Original artwork description:

While living in Tallinn, Estonia I became a bit obsessed with the main local souvenir the Matryoshka. On visiting Russia I found a society with great diversity. I painted a large number of different Matryoshkas showing all types of things I noticed in St Petersburg.

A local art gallery in Tallinn asked me if I could paint some Matryoshkas with Russian artists or artists in the Hermitage Museum. I liked the idea and so the series developed.

The painting is stretched across a thick inner frame. This means it does not require framing again.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint and gloss varnish
