The ancient Mayans worshipped different gods and goddesses, who were playing an important role in all aspects of life. Chaac - the rain god - is god of rain, thunder, and lightning, wields an axe of lightning. With his lightning axe, Chaac strikes the clouds, causing them to produce thunder and rain. Chaac corresponds to Tlaloc among the Aztecs.
