'Cerys' was the first painting I have completed using a circular canvas. I think the finished result works well in a circular format. I wanted to experiment with different shaped canvases and this was the first step.
I created the background first, by layering e paint in each colour of the rainbow. Then using needles to 'intertwine' the colours and manipulating the canvas to make sure each part was covered (including the small edges). Once the background had dried, I used black and white and spun the canvas to create the effect you see.
I like using black and white to break up the colour and feel it 'pops' quite well. As you will see looking at my other pieces, I love using many colours. I feel it provides a happy and interesting result. I paint what I love.
'Cerys' is the name of one of my ewes (also sprayed in rainbow colours). I name each of my pieces after my sheep.
Gesso, Acrylic fluid paint.
