Artwork description:

The first flashes of yellow and the raucous song of yellow-headed blackbirds in cattail marshes across the west are sure signs of spring. I chose to highlight the bright gold of this singing male's head with a limited color palette of ink. The image is printed on handmade paper made from recycled paper scraps and cattail down, so that a little of the marsh resides in each one.

Materials used:

Speedball inks, handmade cattail paper
