Toffee is a sculpture of a black cat with a funny, grumpy face. He's part of the CalbinoOz series, sculptures made from natural gourds that have been grown and dried in the south of France.
The gourds themselves have been stripped of their seeds and skins so that they can be exported around the world without any health concerns.

Like many CalbinoOz sculptures, it wears a small knitted jumper made from modelled, dried surfine wood cellulose, then painted in several layers of different shades to give a mottled ceramic effect, protected at the end of the painting process by a marine varnish.
His moustache is made from fine copper-plated wire, and he looks annoyed as he holds his beloved little mouse on one paw, protecting it from other mice...
