Artwork description:

This Linocut features a black and white cat sits happily on the back of a patterned sofa. It is a very colourful image and I enjoyed embellishing the wallpaper and fabric designs.

For this print I chose to do a reduction Linocut which creates a multicoloured print from a single block of lino. Through a series of progressive cuttings, inkings, and printings, the image slowly emerges while the actual piece of lino is destroyed. A reduction print can therefore never be reprinted. This means that the whole batch of prints must be printed at the start and will determine the final number in any edition.

Materials used:

Lino printed on 200g Snowdon Cartridge paper using water washable inks
