This new painting combines my love of retro music items and stationery in one complete work, and if you know how unspooled cassette tapes can be wound back up using a pencil then you're probably close to my age.

I was an indie music obsessed teen growing up in the 90s so vintage items likes cassettes and records still mean a lot to me. I've also recently started painting stationery objects like pencils and pens. This unique and colourful artwork shows both set against my trademark sky blue background. The rainbow design on the cassette is an original touch created by me.

It's a continuation in my series of artworks looking at nostalgic objects from the past, painted and illustrated using my established graphic / pop art style. It would make a great gift for any music lover or fan of retro items.

It is painted in acrylics and Posca paint pens on a stretched cotton canvas that's ready to hang. I've signed the painting on the back frame as pictured.

I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield.
