Original artwork description:

An abstract in oil and water-soluble graphite on oil paper. The warm yellows, muted greens and touches of burnt sienna fill the sweeping shapes of the painting to reflect the feeling of sails and sailing. The timelessness of being carried home, a memory of returning, is an important part of this painting. Using a large chunk of graphite allows broad strokes of deep colour, when dipped in water, to be drawn across the page. The oil colour is applied using oil bars and brushed to pull the darks in and through. This leaves hints of pure colour to glow through the more muted and earthy tones.
