Original artwork description:

What is delicate, durable, and delightful all in one? The carnation is a historically rich and meaningful flower. With its scientific name dianthus roughly translating to “flower of love” or “flower of the gods”, depending on the source, this flower is one that has been revered for centuries. The meanings of carnations include fascination, distinction, and love. In the early part of the 20th century, carnations became the official flower of Mother’s Day.

This original oil painting is done by me from life. Its painted on stretched Linen canvas (7/8 inch thick) using professional grade oil paints. To compliment the flowers I chose purple background. Painting is framed. For this painting I picked black wood frame with gold liner which is beautiful in its simplicity. The accented liner enhances the artwork placed inside. The frame width is 3-1/4". Painting is wired and ready to be hanged.

Painting size: 16" x 20" in (41*51cm)
Framed size: 23" x 27" in (58*68cm)

This painting won 2nd Place at the "Flowers and Gardens Juried Show" 311 Gallery, Raleigh, NC
It was also exhibited at:
ArtExpo New York;
"Flowers and Gardens Juried Show" 311 Gallery, Raleigh, NC

Please note even though I photo my paintings in sunlight to show the colors as accurate as possible slight variation in color my occur due to different screens settings.
