The colors of the sky change quickly at sunset, going from very bright, almost white, blinding light reflecting in the ocean, to more subtle transition of warm hues. I spent a couple of evenings watching this scene before attempting to paint it. I was drawn to the later stage of sunset, when colors became more muted and subtle.
Materials used to create this artwork: Oil paint on Medium Extra Fine Oil-primed, slightly textured linen canvas. Canvas is mounted on a Gatorfoam panel. Oil-primed surface is specifically designed to provide beautiful results with oil paints. Painting is protected with a coat of Gamvar Varnish, that gives the work a unified and protective surface.
The painting is unframed, and will require a frame to hang on the wall. Images showing the artwork framed in home interiors are for presentation purposes only. Frame is NOT included.
