Captivating Cone - an original dry and open pine cone painting in acrylic gouache.

Dimensions 18cm wide x 22cm high.

Hand painted on 100% cotton Two Rivers handmade 140lbs cold pressed paper from Somerset, England.

I firstly painted a generous coat of Michael Harding Non-absorbent ground in white which gives a sumptuous toothy look and feel as well as adding substance and longevity to the pine cone painting.

This intense study of a sun-dried cone is captured in few tones on a delicate complementary shell pink.

Allow this spartan study evoke the simple beauty of nature.

The paper is thick and rigid enough to just lean it aginst a wall or attach a simple fixing and hook it up somewhere.

I wanted to express the stark beauty of this pine cone.

For the woodland wanderer this may be a lovely gift.
