Original artwork description:

This is the 6th painting in my Capriccios series. As with all the paintings in this series, the themes are often centred around collapse and it’s aftermath, using classical ruins in an allegorical manner. In this piece I was inspired by social and political agency, or lack thereof.

The great engines of change and progression seemingly stalled, faltering or run aground through misdirection. I used the colour red here in it’s political and social meaning. Not necessarily socialism or communism, but certainly radical socio-economic change in the face of less progressive global political forces.
