This painting was inspired by the wondrous colors and light on the landscape at sunset time (while facing east) in Canyonlands National Park of Utah. The artist visited the park in March 2021 and was lucky enough to see a full moon rising over the La Sal mountains as the sun set behind her. This painting was completed in an art studio using professional grade oil paint on 1.5" thick gallery-wrapped canvas.
