THESE HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF ARTFINDER. SORRY, I HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP THEM FOR MYSELF, AS THEY HAVE NOT SOLD ON HERE.
A matching pair of paintings. These beautiful and detailed studies of Canna Lilies are painted in acrylic on two canvases.
I have always been fascinated by these flowers, in the same way I like irises. This is due to the wide range of shapes made by the petals, stems and buds. Also the leaves on Canna Lilies are amazing, especially when the light is behind and you can see the many coloured veins.
These were based on some photos I took last year in the Hillier Gardens near Romsey. It was the end of summer and the Cannas were just past their best. However, as an artist this made them more interesting due to the wider range of colours in the petals as they started to age a bit. Instead of just orange, there was a good range of browns, reds, purples and some beige areas. This is what I love to paint!!
I have written a blog post about these paintings on my blog called rozartz. This shows you step by step how I painted them.
These are long thin canvases, and could be arranged in a variety of ways to suit your decor. They work well fairly close together, but also stand alone as individual paintings in a room. The choice is yours. They work well in a small space if need be. The sides are painted a very dark grey which gives the effect of a frame from the side view.
Please note the following!! I have put the dimensions for both canvases together. The individual canvases are about 19.5 cms wide. I rounded this up to 20 cms to double it to 40 cms to give the overall width. If you want to hang them apart please bear in mind the individual not the overall size. The height, is obviously the same.
They come ready to hang . They have a protective UV varnish applied.
Acrylic paints and acrylic gouache.
