Original artwork description:

2020, the Spanish government orders a national lockdown due the COVID-19 pandemic. I had just moved to the region of Catalunya and like the rest of country’s residents, I stayed in partial isolation. To break the monotony of life indoors I bought myself and pochade box for plein-air painting. What a blissful moment it was to roll it in my shopping trolley to the nearby park and paint the surrounding vegetation.

This painting was the second of two paintings made in Can Cases Park, Martorell in the winter of 2021. I had spent some frustrating two hours on a first painting that I ended up discarding. Cold and annoyed at not having completed a painting, I decided to pack up and roll home. As I was walking down the forest path, I was struck by the beauty of this curve in the road. So I set up camp again, and proceeded to capture the February sunlight as it shimmered through the trees and cast dappled shade on the path. This time I was happy with the result.

This painting comes in a 33.5 x 23,5 x 3 cm floating frame.

Materials used:

Oil paints
