Original artwork description:

Camellias in the woods at Kingston lacy gardens, Dorset
Mid March and a festival of gems,
Exotic looking and beautiful,
Different shades of pink,
Soft light and misty pine trees,
As I walk through the pathway I look back at perfection.

Words and thoughts of being here recently to a special santuary in the woods. Kingston lacy gardens and estate is owned by the National Trust which look after it superbly. I go there often with my mum as it’s her favourite gardens in Dorset.
Original impressionist watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper cold pressed Bockingford 425 gsm 200 lb.
I created a wet on wet background using a pale cadmium yellow and silvery grey. I marked out the pine trees with my Japanese mop squirrel hair brush. Then while the paper is wet I pressed, dropped and created the shapes for the flowers and leaves carving out the pathway by leaving the lighter washes.

Materials used:

Extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425 gsm 200 lb, Japanese mop squirrel hair brush, filbert brush, Chinese hake, Chinese goats hair brush medium, Windsor and Newton fine art watercolours,
