Artwork description:

I wanted to depict Camden Roundhouse in a linocut print and it was important to me I included Gormley's iron man. First of all the colours I chose were to reflect the bright colours of the lights and posters that concert goers will see, but I had to include them in a way that made sense to working a reduction linocut print, where all the colours are built up from one block of lino. After that came the title, as I'd included the Iron Man I wanted to say that in the title, but a bit of research told me that this Iron Man is called "You", so my title became: Camden Roundhouse and "You". I felt it was a brave decision as not everyone will get that, but I hope they understand. I have once before depicted a Gormley Iron Man in a print, that of the Town Hall in Birmingham, there I simply referred to it as The Iron Man, perhaps a bit easier.

Materials used:

oil based block printing ink on Fabriano Tiepolo 290gsm 100% cotton paper
