This is a scene from the edge of a duck pond on the Calke Abbey estate in Derbyshire England, owned by the National Trust. Prior to leaving the UK I would spend a lot of time on this estate, as I lived nearby; it was a very meaningful place for me growing up. I have been back and visited subsequently - this is a more recent painting from one of those return visits.
It is painted very much in the impressionist tradition, with professional oil paints, on canvas board. It has been left for more than a year to dry before being varnished.
Oil paints (Rembrandt, Old Holland, Winsor & Newton, Gamblin, lefranc & bourgeois)
