Large ( 40" x 30" - 102cm x 76cm) painting. Continuing my 'powerful places ' series of paintings. This painting draws on my memories of Cadiz. I took a motorcycle trip in the early 1990's through Spain from Bilbao and Cadiz was the destination 1000 miles down. Cadiz, certainly then was not a tourist destination.
The starter motor gave up there and I toured the small industrial units to try to get it fixed with no success but I did find a nice large paella pan which I strapped to my back for the journey back ( you could not buy them in the UK then ). The bike only did 90 miles to a tank full, so I had to stop, take the pan off fill up with fuel, jump start the bike and strap the pan on again every 90 miles or so. Sounds crazy but it is true ! I thought that I was Earnest Hemmingway back then!
This painting incorporates my characteristic use of reflective paints to capture the light. I have incorporated a range of sumptuous 'Golden' paints, iridescent gold deep, ultramarine blue, ultramarine violet, interference violet, phthalo blue and iridescent pearl to attempt to capture the drama of the view to the Cathedral with its shinning gold cupola. The painting comes to life under varying lighting conditions. Artificial light accentuates the reflective quality of the painting ( please see last image )
Created on a Reeves cross braced deep box canvas, painted white on the sides, so you may choose not to frame. However I believe that a plain white frame would be beneficial. Initialled on the front and signed on the back and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. I can paint the edge a different colour if you prefer.
Corded and ready to hang.
I will only charge what the maximum of what the shipping costs state and if it is less than my shipping charges state then I will always refund the difference.
