Recently I have made a return to painting with oil on canvas after a number of years of working with mixed media and collage. Most works are abstract using various geometric shapes with large blocks of colour, sparingly used as in the blues and pinks of 'Cadence 4', which is part of a series of large 100x120cm minimal works. The canvas is painted around the edges and ready to hang if preferred. 100x120x4cm

Some words Robert Hughes wrote when writing about Richard Diebenkorn's Ocean Park series of paintings I find quite apposite to the work I am doing:

‘one heard neither the chant of surging millions, nor even the chorus of a movement, but one measured voice, quietly and tersely explaining why this light, this colour, this intrusion of a 30 degree angle into a glazed and modulated field might be valuable in the life of the mind and of feeling.
