It's a beautiful painting of Hagia Sophia which was once a former Christian patriarchal basilica (church) built in the Byzantine Empire, and later an imperial mosque when Constantinople was conqured by the Ottoman Turks. Today it stands as a museum (Ayasofya Müzesi) in modern day Istanbul, Turkey.
