This piece is part of a limited series featuring androgynous busts, with each work being unique. Through this series, I have experimented with how color influences form, exploring its impact on the mood and context of each sculpture. I frequently explore polychrome sculpture in my work, a medium that I believe is underrepresented.
The sculpture is made of red fireclay fired in a sixth cone. The surface color was achieved by applying several layers and several firings. The hair - a foam glaze specially developed for this work, which grows in the kiln.
