My piece was initially inspired by the Lolita subculture from Japan. But I felt there was more to her gaze than a charming look and it needed something added.

The background is a representation of her hidden inner turmoil and helpless rage. Her skin is colored, her age is young, she is female and feels she is imprisoned with no voice. Her emotions are hardly appreciated in this world, but break out they must, someday…
