While thinking about my next painting, I sometimes have a fight in my head. I have one voice telling me one thing about colour, shape, shade, shadows, using a knife or a brush, and another telling me the opposite. It drives me mad, but then I have my knight in shining armour riding up on his white horse and telling me to stop listening to those voices and to go to my canvas and start painting, which I do, then I paint very quickly.

"I once received a compliment about my work. The person said, 'I often wonder why people from all over the world buy Ta's art and write such beautiful things about it. There must be something in the paintings that makes someone want to hang it on their wall and live with it for a long time. When I look at Ta's work, whether it's a painting of people, lovers, goddesses, or eggs, there is always something that draws the eye. You can look at it a thousand times and still notice something different about it. That’s the answer.'"

My people paintings have a story to tell, but you will never really know what that story is, but you can speculate. I love painting people, but I don’t want just to paint portraits, I want my people to have a bit of character, a little of the night about them I want them to be special.
