Artwork description:

This is an original handmade linocut print. Available in an edition of 40.
The first photo included is number 1/40 and is executed in the colours yellow, orange, grey, brown, green, blue and black.

The image size is 29 x 29 cm, on 200 grams acid-free watercolour paper of 35 x 50 cm. The print is supplied unframed and can be cropped to fit a frame.

I spent over two months designing and printing. A total of 54 hours.
Videos of the entire process of each layer can be seen on YouTube and on my website .

My inspiration comes from William Morris who I think made beautiful prints. It is an Art Nouveau style.
My studio is in a rural area, and I hear the sheep, horses and goats when I am painting.
I love animals and I like to paint them.

This is a varied print. Each print is hand made and may be slightly different. I may have used a roller a little differently or mixed a color a little differently.
It is a reduced lino print is that more lino is cut away for each layer of printing. Once I have completed a layer of printing and started cutting into the lino there is no going back and mistakes cannot be corrected or changes made, so a lot of care and planning is required. This image has 9 layers of cutting and printing. The video on YouTube shows how I peel the paper away from the lino after each of those 9 layers.

Materials used:

oil
