Original artwork description:

This is a painting that was inspired during a visit to friends in Devonshire, England and painted later in my studio. It is a winter scene as indeed are many of my beach scenes as nature is then often at its most impressive.
The high cliffs are typical of these Devonshire beaches as well as the large stones rather than sand. Anyone who has walked along one of these beaches on a stormy day like the lone figure in my painting knows what a wonderful sound the stones make as the waves make them roll over each other!
This is a special painting to me too, since I won my first prize with it in an international art competition in Germany.
