Vincent Van Gogh painted his famous sunflowers in an Arles garden in the glorious South of France. Ta, however, masterfully painted her almost-edible egg flowers on the island of Samui in southern Thailand.
The Egg collection is a play on Ta's childhood memories. Her mum would prepare a daily lunch box for her to take to school as there were no cooking facilities. When the lunch bell rang, the children would sit on the floor together and eat their lunch. Almost every other day, her mum would prepare a Thai speciality of a fried egg on rice.
The other kids would tease her and say, "Ta! fried egg again? You will begin to start looking like a fried egg soon!". It's these comments that allow her to weave her childhood musings into her art in a playful way. "I used to plead with my sister to have something different, but we had many chickens and many eggs, so it was always fried egg on rice”.
COMMISSIONS: I would be delighted to create you a unique work, whatever size you need or colour palette.
