This large work was painted and drawn using Charcoal and water colour pigments.
It is a multi layered process.
First: pouring the paint and letting it wash down the panel in multiple layers, then looking for the image to come through.
In every style, manner and medium I paint, I like to see the past through the piece. Leaving layers after layers. It creates a depth and a personality to each individual work of art.
Second: using charcoal to rough out the figure that has appeared through.
Like the Buddha waiting to come through and reveal itself.
Third: painting with pigment in between the positive and negative space, and again removing, layering, pouring.
Fourth: that latter process is repeated several time till again the feel comes through. The tone, the calm, until the equation of the creative process is still and complete.
