Original artwork description:

One of a series of oil pastels done whilst Artist in Residence for the UK National Trust at Bucks Mills on the North Devon coast, staying in the artists' cabin there: a stupendous location.

I spent two weeks working on these pastel studies, using the method I'd developed 30 years ago. The paper is silk chalk coated which enables multiple reworkings using all sorts of media, especially knives.

Materials used:

Oil pastels on silk chalk-coated glossy paper; knives, sticks, steel wool, emery paper.
