Artwork description:

Brighton is one of my favourite places to visit for a day trip. Nothing can beat a bit of sea air, especially in the winter when you feel cooped up inside for too much of the time.

Brighton Wheel, below East Cliff near Brighton Pier, a transportable Ferris wheel, has been in place on Brighton's seafront since 2011 and had planning permission to stay until 2016. So its life there might be limited. It has attracted some controversy being in a conservation area with residential buildings. But as a tourist attraction several hundred thousand visitors have enjoyed a ride each year, and it feels in a short time to be very much part of Brighton.

In working this print I wanted to keep to simple shapes and colours which had the wheel as the main element but had other elements of a day by the sea, with blue skies, bright colours and, of course, the deck chairs.

The print comes prepared for sale in a window mount to fit a standard ready made frame.

Materials used:

lino cut print using oil based inks on Fabriano Tiepolo printmaking paper
