This is another painting done “en plein air” from our hotel balcony during a bright sunrise. The view on this morning was very interesting, the bright rising sun was illuminating misty mountains on the far side of the lake whilst causing the nearer protruding mountains around the edge of the lake to look darker and almost silhouetted, casting their shadows over the water. It was a good chance to use the white paper as part of the bright scene. With this piece I also experimented with adding Graphite over the Acrylic Paint to add textures and darken certain parts. It was painted from Ida Saou looking across the lake towards Swaysur.
This series of Acrylic paintings was done during a trip to the very beautiful Sun Moon Lake in Nantou, Taiwan in 2007. My wife and I love this place and visit as often as possible. These paintings were all done “en plein air” from the balcony of our hotel room. At the time I was interested in leaving areas of the base materials I was working on visible as I was experimenting with the visual effect of the paper being part of the image or even framing it in a way.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver to every country at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
Any import duties, taxes and charges that may be payable are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer. Please message me to check if this might affect your purchase.
