A vivid expressionist oil pastel and graphite painting of woods - directly done outdoors as the expressionists of old - in one of London's suburb parks - with all senses experiencing untouched nature - enjoying that display of shape and texture and colour - on a mild sunny early spring day - and you are correct if you imagine that there was the sound of birds all over that place. - - - Mostly I sketch directly from nature, in front of a model or object - keeping this practice feeds into my work as a sculptor, printmaker and conceptual artist. Oil pastel is a great medium for the expressionist - graphite adding 3-D effect is the sculptor coming through. Such an 'oil pastel and graphite object' breathes so much authenticity, having it on the palm of your hand you will feel its preciousness.

'Bridges 03' and 'Bridges 04' are done on the same day - it's the same tree - in two different perspectives. So you may consider them as a set. Often I discover something later that wasn't consciously indented when making it - like you may discover an expression of 'Bull and Bear' when you have 'Bridges 03' and 'Bridges 04' side by side. It's a quality 7.5 x 5 inches paper, perforation inclusive (19 x 12.6 cm), considering this to be a very handy collection format. All reasonable efforts are made to provide a good representation of colour, however due to computer monitor limitations, some variation may occur. The virtual image is placed upon a white background as to imply a passe-partout or frame.
