One of a series of small sketches done in both acrylic and oil paint for the much larger painting 'Below Marwick Head'. This is unframed and the edges of the canvas have been finished. It's based on the way waves refract back when they encounter a vertical cliff face making for a dangerous sea state with waves coming from entirely contrary directions.

Oil and acrylic paint on triple primed canvas.
