Original artwork description:

Branches, Pencil Drawing
Ink drawing on Paper. The drawing has been made using a stick as a pen. I like the rawness and interest of the lines when using unusual tools for drawing.
The video shows pages from my travel sketchbooks which I draw on to make these paintings. I keep a travel journey for every place I have visited.

The work comes unframed
Size
9.5 x 7 inches

Paintings and drawings from Yorkshire and the South Pennine uplands
I work with the ephemeral – the everchanging, things that are not quite there; pools of water and rivers flowing, ice melting, clouds passing, birds flocking in flight, or the wind blowing. How to record these passing states? This is my question as I work
On a meander through the peaty tumps of moorland sedge and cotton grass, I find ancient reservoir workings open to the upland winds, connected by old stone conduits that thread an informal network of byways amongst the bogs for sheep and other wayfarers. Here, the shining water mirrors the scudding clouds and the winds action, alive with wheeling waders and geese.

You can find more of my moorland paintings in the 'Moorland Paintings' section of my shop.
