" Branches" is an oil painting depicting a close up view of the underside of the intertwined branches of a tree. The bright negative space of the sky casts the trunk and branches into shadow and makes the leaves appear translucent and formless.
This work is a continuation of a series paintings using trees as the subject matter. This time concentrating on a view of just the branches and how the positive space of the branches interacts with the negative space of the sky to create a flattened sense of space.
