This oil painting is a study of a boy in a red turban inspired by the paintings of Jan van Eyck (Man in a Red Turban - ) and Eugene Delacroix (Woman in a Red Turban - ).
When I was travelling through India in 1999 I remembered a boy next to a rickshaw who was wearing a red turban - this memory sparked the idea and this small oil study captures my memories of that moment in time, painted in a expressionist and loose style.
