Artwork description:

An enlivening sculpture offering an intriguing and humorous take on the different ways that we try to keep on top of life as it undulates beneath us.

A small sculpture of a person riding on her dynamic “Bouncing O” with a movement somewhere between that of a space-hopper and the blobs inside a lava lamp.

This sculpture is one of a series of people bouncing along on their O's. Their motion feels like being carried in the weightlessness of viscus liquid, which means they can bounce to great heights without fear and then drop down to bounce again, allowing for limitless expression.

This O has hit the ground and is collapsing down under the weight of the rider just before they spring up again. She is using her accumulated skill to balance it from tipping over, and is looking forward to the up-bounce.

This is one of a series of four sculptures that are available either together or separately. They are made of a beautiful translucent British eco-resin, so that the figures are creamy in colour, reflecting the wax that they were originally made in, and the O's are a vibrant blue. The translucent material allows for interesting glimpses through to the armature, or internal structure of the sculpture, and it is mounted on a semi-translucent, almost black, flat acrylic base. This sculpture is 12cm long, 12cm tall, and 8cm wide including the base, and for sale as a limited edition of 24. The sculpture is initialled on the right side of the bottom of the O, and comes with a signed letter of authentication, stating its edition number. See my further listings to purchase them all together, or any of the others individually.

I made this sculpture by modelling wax onto a wire armature, or framework, and then I moulded and cast it using my own innovative casting technique. You can see pictures of my making processes in the “Me at Work” section of my Profile. The sculpture is robust and can withstand small knocks and movements in the home. Being made in a light-weight material, it weighs less than half a kilo and is easy to transport and move about. I package it in a sturdy cardboard box and it travels very well by courier.
