Original artwork description:

My painting ‘Bottlebrush’ was inspired by the discarded bottlebrush blossoms that carpet my back garden in spring, after being visited by little birds, looking to taste the sweet nectar.
The indigenous Australians sucked the blossom for nectar, or soaked them in water to obtain a sweet drink.
The Bottlebrush shrub is native to Australia, and with their bright red flowers, are a well-loved garden and street plant.
