This painting depicts Glengarrisdale on the Isle of Jura, in the Inner Hebrides. The main feature of the painting is the remote red roofed bothy, surrounded by long grasses, set back from the sea and looking towards Scarba, another Inner Hebridean Island. It is early evening in summer and the pink in the sky is reflected in the sea and creating shades of pink and red on the surrounding hills.
