"Bolus Barracks" is a Variable Edition of 12 prints created on Fabriano paper. The process involved painting in watercolours on strong, acid-free tissue paper, which was then adhered to Fabriano paper using an etching press (Chine Colle technique), followed by screenprinted layers with water-based inks.
The image is of an old derelict Jacobean era barracks on the top of Bolus Head, near Ballinskelligs in Co. Kerry, South-West Ireland.
I spent some time at the Cill Rialaig Artists Retreat near Ballinskelligs in 2014 and again in 2016. During the 2016 stay, I created 6 new prints based on the local landscape. This is one of the six. The work was commenced at the retreat, and finished back at my studio over the following months.
This is Edition No. 4 of 12 prints.
