Limited Edition colour linocut of boats on the bank of the River Axe at Uphill, near Weston-super-Mare in Somerset.
This is a large linocut made using several carved blocks of lino, one for each colour. The ink is transferred to the paper by rubbing the back with a baren and a wooden spoon. (Takes a while!).
The actual print is 28cm wide and 37cm high (roughly A3 - so pretty big).
This is a variable edition of 50, and, as always with linocuts, each print will vary slightly since they are produced by hand. Each print is numbered, titled and signed on the front by me, the artist.
I grew up in Weston-super-Mare and have family there, so frequently return. Uphill is a village (now really a suburb) of Weston at the far end of the bay. There is a ruined church up on the hill which is a major landmark that can be seen from across the town. Beneath this, the River Axe flows into Weston Bay and various yachts and row boats are kept on the muddy banks of the river, or tied to rickety wooden jetties.
The linocut is printed in oil-based inks on acid free paper and comes with a mount, backing board and cellophane wrap so it is ready for a 40cm by 50cm frame.
Please note international orders will be posted without a mount and rolled in a tube with acid-free tissue.
