Original artwork description:

I spent most of 2018 in the Scottish Highlands. The contrast of micro weather conditions in parts of the estuary area of the South Lakes where I live and have my studio is nothing compared with the conditions on the day represented here at Lossiemouth. The very same morning I had come off Dorenell Hill in rural Cabrach - on the Glenfiddich Estate in Moray with nothing but thick snow and icy wind blasts - only to head some 10 miles to the coast on the other side of Elgin and beautiful warm sunshine and clear blue skies!

This painting is from what is a relatively small series of 6 paintings produced from a lazy afternoon on the beach in what was originally the fishing and harbour town of Lossiemouth. Although the look and feel of the place near the beach is still that of a fishing port from the late 18th and 19th centuries - today, employment is dominated by a nearby RAF base.

This painting is complete with a beautifully handmade and hand-painted white wooden frame - which leads the eye right into the work. Signed by me on the front and reverse this painting is ready to hang.

Materials used:

oil on canvas board
