A day of intense summer heat, a day to seek out shadow perhaps. A day when the light is strong and the colours vibrant. A small French village, closed up for lunch, with only the crickets and bees for company. I was enchanted by the blue wooden shop front, by the texture of the walls. The work is rich in both realism and detail, and the texture is enhanced. A great souvenir of France, a welcome blast of summer sun, a perfect gift. Texture has been added to give extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
