Original artwork description:

Impressionistic painting of a blue octopus using the pointillism technique in monochrome.

The octopus was achieved using three colours of acrylic paints. A carefully curated palette is selectively applied to the canvas, using my single dominant colour of ultramarine blue, in tandem with either white or black to create varying tints and shades. The creative process first commences with an initial base layer, thereafter building up the subject using precise, dotted layers, with a keen eye towards ensuring the right light and shadows.

I strive to bring the calming colour of blue into your home for a relaxing atmosphere with sea animals as the main subject.

Painted on 16 x 16 inch canvas.
Made in Todmorden, West Yorkshire
