This oil painting is from the beautiful Penasco Valley. I just love it. These horses were running full tilt on one of the ranches, enjoying the sun coming out on an early Indian summer morning. The painting includes the spirits of the Mogollon people, who probably never saw the horses originally brought over by the Spanish Conquistadors. For the Apache and Commanche of this area it was love at first sight. The Indians became the gold standard of riders and would mark their horses with their hand print, and decorate them with feathers and colored muds. If you would like an archival giclee, limited edition of 240 for $350, please contact me.
