I adore these blue poppies that appear in late spring - they are such an unusual colour for a flower.
Painting them was quite a challenge as the varied blues also contained hints of purple and pink, and they seemed to have such bold personalities facing the world.
The stamens, however, were a joy to paint - like putting the icing on a cake, they added to the personalities of the flowers.
This is an oil painting on a wrapped stretched canvas with painted sides 1.5cm deep.
It is wired ready for hanging.
