My collages are made mostly from original monoprints, but sometimes I add other printed material, such as newspapers, magazines and textile fragments. I make the monoprints in batches without any idea of what they may be used for. I sometimes start with an acrylic underpainting and then cut or tear the monoprints I have selected into either defined or random shapes. These are then used to make an image on paper or board, usually semi-abstract. Sometimes I have a loose idea of the subject but the composition is mostly undefined at the beginning and arises organically as I work with various prints and papers. This collage is supplied in an off white mount, ready for framing.
