Original artwork description:

I created a graduated watercolour painting with swirling lines and shapes, in Paynes Grey, dark aqua, aqua, light green, and pale creamy yellow, and tiny circles in gold ink.

Each of the three dimensional flowers is cut from the watercolour painting in three different sizes, and I've beant the petals upwards. The backs are painted with bright orange which gives a warm glow to the whole piece reflecting of off the backing paper.

The flowers are decoratively arranged in a graduating colour circle, in the centre of the frame, and are slightly raised from the surface to give a 3D effect.

The whole piece is framed within a white glazed (perspex) deep box frame.

The result is a vibrant and colourful modern relief design revealing individual flowers on closer inspection, with different shadows cast from the up-turned petals depending on the direction of the light.

Materials used:

Watercolour on watercolour paper, in a white glazed (perspex) deep box frame
