The inspiration for this piece goes back to the time of my childhood. I grew up in a small New England town with three major apple orchards. The road I lived on ran through the middle of one of the orchards, and every spring, it was decorated in pinks and reds from the apple blossoms. This portrait features a spring beauty surrounded by apple blossoms as well as Purple Finches which are New Hampshire’s state bird. I have always loved birds, and that is another memory that I wanted to include in my piece. Every winter, my father would feed the wild birds and it wasn’t unusual to have Purple Finches grace our feeders.
