Original artwork description:

This typical Naive Still life is a harkening back to Collage; a Category I began working in with gusto, over a decade ago. This Painting is comprised of Decorative Papers used for the backgrounds, but in certain areas I have left areas blank. I come back and mimic ( but purposely not too precisely!) the pattern of the paper, in paint. Torn or cut pieces of Vintage French Fashion Newspapers ( Originals collected from my years in Paris, and published in the 1920's) are used in random areas, often sideways or upside down, and typically painted over, but with the text still visible. The "Canvas" is a Heavy, Acrylic Paper with a Lovely Linen Finish, and Varnished with a Waterbased, Satin Varnish, to seal and protect it,. (Although popping it into a Ready-made Frame with Glass, is recommended...)
***on a personal note; This image is done from a Sketch I did of my Tabletop at a favorite Restaurant in Nice, France, the night of the Paris Terrorist Attacks; November, 2015. I have thought often ( with heavy heart) of how as I was sketching and enjoying a lovely meal, people were losing their lives.

Materials used:

Heavy Acrylic Paper with Linen Finish, Decorative Papers, Vintage French Newsprint, Acrylic Paint, Color Pencils
